HISTORY

The School History

Francisco Benitez Elementary School I was named Nicanor C. Garcia Sr. Elementary School on November 5, 1997, situated along J.B. Roxas St., Barangay Olympia, Makati City. The school started with 16 teachers from Grade I – V levels only and classes were held in rented houses along South Avenue and Kakarong Streets. The rapid increase of the population of Barangay Olympia opened its way for the City Government to build a bigger school to accommodate the school populace from Grade I to VI with 40 teachers.  In 1995, NGES continued to change from renting community houses to newly constructed building; wrecked by a strong earthquake in 1990 and damaged by the fire broke out in the neighborhood in September 1993 has made its way to the rising of the new four-storey building with an area of 508 square meters under the direction and leadership of the Hon. City Mayor Jejomar C. Binay in November 1996.

The school’s history manifests great change and made a string of great leaders and performing school heads namely: Trinidad C. Borlaza and Purisima Villena, assistant principal (1962), Estelita P. Castro (1963-1965), Ruben T. Sandtos (1966), Clara S. Barbon (), Julia Q. Lopena, OIC-Ma. Luisa M. Deveza, Zenaida S. Peñafuerte (1990-1995), Jose M. Paoa (1996), OIC-Concepcion A. Ruiz (1996), Fabio V. Saulo (1997-2002), Priscila M. Tanlioco (2002-2004), OIC-Concepcion A. Ruiz (2004-2006), Dr. Gloria C. Domingo (2006-2008), Ronald C. Lontoc (2008-2012), Anabel M. Aranas (2012-201), Marvin H. Suarez (2013-2016), Emelita M. Cajigal (2016-2019), and Elsa A. Soliva (2019-present).
